Girls are allowed to parede in flip flops in the middle of the winter and yet a well dressed guy has to keep his feet stuck in boots in the summer. Socks in sandals – yes, this is a crime against not even fashion, but simply a good taste. But give me a break, everyone has toes!

I’m sorry to add to the barrage of comments, but just…. no! But then again, this might be because 1) I hate men in sandals anyway, men have ugly feet and they shouldn’t be seen, 2) I absolutely HATE gladiator sandals, and 3) I’m just generally not that hot on sandals anyway. I think feet are kind of gross, and I don’t particularly want to see them, especially ones of the hairy long toed male variety.
But, saying that, I do love the rest of the outfit, and think you could probably pull those sandals off in Europe.

Love this outfit, especially the mandels, there is less on show than there would be with havaianas, but nobody has a problem with them! As for the “all too London/Shoreditch” comments, I think people are a tiny bit jealous they don’t live places that they can wear clothes like this!

Very surprised and sad to see the amount of super conservative readers commenting on your sandals. I want to see more men being more creative with the way they dress. The majority of men (and mainly their conservative girlfriends) are full of stereotypes about what is right and what is wrong to be wearing. BORING!! Lets be a bit more fashion free… this is London, isn’t it?
If you want to get etmological about it, the whole trend of gladiator sandles came about from copying Roman Gladiators, who were in fact strapping men, ala Russel Crowe. So really it makes perfect sense for Joe to be wearing those shoes, he may well be off to wrestle a lion. Even if he isn’t, it looks fab. If you’ve got it, flaunt it.

Why isn’t Joe allowed to wear mandals? Women fought relentlessly to be able to wear the same clothes as men and now androgynous dressing is hugely fashionable. Women can wear trousers, but even now a man can’t wear a skirt (unless he’s Scottish
) without being ridiculed. I say let the man have his sandals!
